what is this for i drug over some ice broke the wires. what exactly are these wires for?

backup light switch
When you put the car in reverse, It pushes a steel ball in to complete the circuit to the white backup lights. Better honk when backing up until you get this fixed.
Part nuber is E8BZ-15220-B

Folks - It seems the fuel injected cars have two switches and the carburated cars have 3 switches. The two on the fuel injected cars are for when the cars is in neutral and the other is for reverse lights. as far as the thrid switch for the carburated cars, I don't have a clue but I suspect it is for emissions.Comment

Good info - The third switch on the 4 speed is for the shift light (which I don't think later cars had) - So I suspected wrong it wasn't for emissions and I guess it doesn't matter whether or not it is carburated - just whether or not it was equipped with a shift light in the instrument cluster - Very Intersting!Comment
