  • Westiva 2010!!!

Mark your calendars! Westiva 2010, the third annual, will be July 10th at Wedge Pond in Alberta's Kananaskis Country.

This is the same place as it's been held the past two years.

Campgrounds in the area fill up fast so I would recommend making reservations.

On-line and telephone reservations start on March 1st for Mount Kidd (http://www.mountkiddrv.com/) which is the closest, and nicest, but there are a couple of other options that aren't too far away.

These are only about a 30-40 minute drive at most from Wedge Pond.

As for hotels the closest are located in Kananaskis Village, not far from Wedge Pond.

Can we get more people out than Festiva Madness 3!?! Let's give it a shot! Actually, I'd be happy if we get into the double digits this year... we had 4 Festivas in '08 and 5 in '09.

It is tempting to go to this meet but again, its really far just for a meet, i'll think about it

Calgary Stampede starts on the 9th. You could make it a dual purpose holiday!

Ok. So I'm planning on going to Radium Hot Springs after the meet. If any one wants to tag along there is some great hot springs there. Its not to far of a drive about 200kms from Wedge Pond. Nice drive too. There is about 50kms of the drive is through a forest fire zone. Both sides of the valley are just burnt tree trunks as far as you can see.
The Village of Radium Hot Springs lies only 1.5 hours west of Banff National Park. Plan your trip with things to do and local accommodations.

That is a really beautiful drive! Well worth it even if you don't go to the Hot Springs. Are you going to head home along the TC highway or go Highway 3?

Only 330 miles from home for me... I could get there and back on a tank of gas! Not quite.. lol.
I'd have to cross the Canadian border, though.
                              Hmmm
