I've searched and found numerous threads for swaps but haven't found the answer I'm looking for. What is the least involved and most inexpensive swap for a 1997 Aspire? I have replaced everything in the steering and suspension areas and am happy with the handling but the HP and torque of this little car is really lacking, just looking for a bump in both areas. It has a 5 speed and want to retain it.
Oh yeah, a discovery I stumbled upon: forget the little plastic shifter inserts, 3/8 inch copper tubing cut works BEAUTIFULLY! Just cut to fit inside the flanges, the bolts slide right in. I ground off the one riveted bolt that holds on the joint connector, punched it out then drilled the smaller hole to fit a hardware store bolt with locking nut.
