  • b6-2E /ME year id for a rebuild

    Hi guys . I have a 89 121 that i swapped in a carby b6-2E Into.

It ran hard for less than a few tanks of fuel and developed some rod nock or something bad in there. Still don't know yet. Compression tested it at 120 145 130 130 psi so I was gunna rebuild the little thing.

Just widering if anyone knows how to identify the differences between the differnt years. My engine number is too faint on the first line after the b6 bit . The second line is clear. I know it has hydrolic tappts/ lifters , 16v sohc, a windage tray on the sump. Also has a serpintine /v belt hybrid setup too.

Since it was on a pallet when i bought it , I can't say for sure what it was out of.

Things like water pumps and hydrolic tappets seem to be generic to the sohc 16v setup. Things like head gaskets seem not to be from what I can work out.

Could the dizzy be from something else? I had to get a rotor button for it and its a 91 style. I was told 91 was where it changed a bit though.

Any thoughts would be apreciated . - Wack
