I'd like to think that I am too young to know what three on the tree means, but the first vehicle I ever drove was a 1940 something Dodge pickup, three on the tree. It was primarily used as a farm truck. I begged the farm manager to let me buy it when they got rid of it, but no such luck. :banghead:

I drive Festiva's 90% of the time. Also have a Mitsubishi Mighty Max for light truck needs and F250 4x4 for pulling trailers and winter weather.

My First truck had one - I would rather have a slap shifter from a Javalin though

My first car was an AMC Pacer with three-in-the-tree. Every now and then the selector bit in the engine compartment would pop out if it's groove, and I'd get stuck inbetween gears. I'd have to jump out, pop the hood, pop the doohickey back into the widget and then resume driving. Pretty exciting in traffic!

    good times... good times...

Oh, and my festy is my primary mover. Wife's car and a motorcycle as backup...

I used to drive a farm truck that was three on the tree

And for the passed few months my festiva has been my daily driver, but not for too much longer, winters coming

Festiva is my spring, summer, fall car. With my old '84 4wd F250 as backup and when I need to haul something. My steep and rugged access road is not Festiva friendly in winter so have '84 4wd Ranger for that time of year. Wish insurance would just insure me whatever vehicle I drove since I am only driver and would sign off that nobody else would ever drive one of them, instead of playing best two out of three for the time of year. And dang state of Arkansas changed rules few years back so any vehicle you let license lapse for less than a year, they want that money from time you let it lapse if you try to relicense it in that year. If its full year or more they start fresh. Its like $25 or $30 so not real big deal, more hassle swapping insurance around. My insurance company gets confused cause I have two '84 Ford trucks even though one is a F250 and one a little Ranger. More than once I've swapped between the two trucks, got the new temporary proof insurance at the local office, then the company figuring its a mistake never offically transfers the insurance nor contacts me to check.

Suppose could be worse, some states have lot more draconian laws where every vehicle you own has to be insured all the time. Let one vehicle lapse in license or insurance and they come after you even if you arent using it. I am sure there probably is an official way to "put it up on blocks" but also sure that involves a fee....
