Ok, this isn't Festie related, but I can't seem to find any good active Malibu forums so I figured I'd try posting this here since we have a lot of people who know about more than Festiva's.
Wife hit a deer in her '04 Malibu (3.5L auto with over 200K miles) and had to get it towed to the house. I was not there when they loaded it on the rollback so I really can't say if they put it neutral or not. After replacing the radiator and bend the hood back into shape the car ran fairly well except for every once in a while under heavy accelaration you could feel the trans kind of slip a little along with a low clicking sound from what sounds like the front right. Its NOT the kind of clicking you get with a bad CV joint. Anyway, its gotten worse and worse to the point where we no longer drive it.
So my question is, has anyone heard of or experienced this before? I'm hoping its not something inside the trans, with any luck its the pass side axle popped partially out or something, and I've also see in the service manual that on the passenger side there is a "stub shaft" or something, so I'm thinking that could be it as well. I can't bring it down under my carport to mess with it till I get done putting my CRX back together from replacing valve stem seals, just trying to get an idea what I'm up against if anyone else knows anything about it.
Thanks!
