I just put a used auto tranny in my wife's '93 GL. The guy I bought it from said it worked fine about three years ago when the car it was in was wrecked (75,000 miles on it). Now it won't shift out of low by itself. If you take off with the shifter in "D" you must manually move it to "2" for the tranny to shift to second, and then manually move the shifter back to "D" for it to shift to third. Otherwise it works fine and the shifts are crisp and not sluggish. Is this most likely something that will free up with use, a shifter adjustment that I can make, a bad vacuum diaphragm (yes the hose is hooked up), or something electrical with those wires going into the tranny. I put a new filter and fluid in it while it was out. Thanks. Mark.
