  • installing lifters:how?

anyone on here know how to diagnose/install engine lifters..i have one that is sticking thus making a clicking noise constantly and progressively when gas pedal depressed. Its not a big deal but is annoying enough for me to want to fix. I already have the lifters, just need to put the one or all of them in, anyone ever done this before and maybe can walk me through it? or even better anyone in the md dc area (rockville, gaithersburg, frederick>) and could lend a hand possibly? Or just a walkthrough will be cool,

Dude you really need to buy yourself a Service manual. Or learn to use the Search function. Or both.

^ dude just look around there is a button that says "search" then just type in what your looking for.

As far as the lifters......Take the intake pipe(plastic) off. Then take the valve cover off. You will then need to take the rocker arm shafts off. Be careful the old lifters have a tendency to fall out when you least expect. I recommend cutting the fingers off a couple rubber gloves and slipping them over the end of the rockers. This will keep them from falling out. Move away from car, replace lifters (they will need to be bled too). Re-install everything as you removed it. I'd replace the valve cover gasket while you've got it apart. Hope this helps.........Also VERY important to use a torque wrench when retightening the shaft bolts. They are easy to strip.

the auto parts store sells Marvel Mystery Oil. Its in a red bottle. drain your oil, put a quart or 2 even, of the mystery oil, and the rest regular oil. let the engine idle till it warms up, drive around a little, rev on it, and see if that clears it up. you have dirt/gunk in one of the lifters causing it to stick. i did this on my first festy and it worked after changing the oil and running marvel mys. oil 2 times. it was really bad but it fixed it. its worth a try.

No one turned you away. But youve been posting questions that have been asked dozens of times before. Using the Search function will reveal the answers. BUT you have to use it. And yes sometimes you have to try different wording to get what youre looking for. But its there. I guarantee you its there.
And my 2nd piece of advice is something EVERYONE here will tell you you should purchase. It will save you valuable time.
