tachometer question

My 97 Aspire (5 sp manual) has no tach. If I get a cluster with a tach can I just swap it with the old cluster, plug the connectors in and the tach will work or not? Thanks.

It should. I swaped my carbed festy with every thing from a FI festy. the FI festy didn't have a tach. the carbed one did. I swaped the full wiring harness into the carbed car. One would think my tach wouldn't work. Started it today and low and behold it did. So I would think the wire is there it just needs the cluster. And if it doesn't work I'll guide you to install the one wire that controlls the tach. ;-)
