  • Tranny seals

I am putting my car back together and now I am getting the tranny ready (5 speed festiva). I plan to change the input and output seals. Autozone also shows a selector shaft seal. What is this? Do I need to change it? Should I do anything else to the tranny prior to installation?

shaft that moves the shift forks...its just a simple O-ring...shouldn't cost more than 4 dollars.

Actually isn't a simple O-ring, its the same type of seal as the axle shafts (with the spring around the circumference) with a brass seat that you need to insert with a hammer or something like that.

no it isn't. Its an o-ring that goes around the shaft and keeps trans fluid from coming out when you shift & move the shift selector rod

There is another one you are talking about but i dunno what its proper name is.
