I have a 1991 Festiva with the 5 speed. new fuel pump but it'll sorta idle but touch the throttle and it dies. I hooked the pump directly to the fuel line (with out the sending unit) and you can see the pressure bypass on the pump blowing fuel. Once it starts putting fuel out of the side of the pump the engine stalls.
I hooked another one of my pumps up (pulled from a land rover no less) it runs fine but it's blowing fuel from the bypass. No codes either.
I'm thinking the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. any insight to this?
