  • carb and FI timming belts?!?!?!

    Chris,

One thing just occurred to me - did you change the head or just swap the FI setup for intake manifold/carb? If the former I guess you would have changed the timing belt anyway, but timing belts for FI motors have a different part number than carbed ones. Whether the belt is actually different, and how this might have anything to do with the problem I don't know, but at least at Pep Boys there are two different part numbers.

Does anyone know anything further about that?

    John
Is there any truth here? are the belts different? Cause I have a stumble after my carb to FI swap and I have the carb belt?!?!

This appears to be true, I looked at several different part sites and they all listed different part numbers.

I other thing I never noticed before, and it may be the reason for the different part numbers on the timing belts: The carb'd engine camshaft has a different part number with 206 intake & 206 exhaust lift, while the FI'd engine has 205 intake & 205 exhaust lift.
