question on reed valves

I was doing some work on my carb, when I decided to clean the reed valves. I noticed I only had one on the exhaust side and nothing on the converter side. I checked the repair manual, and one picture shows the same setup that I have, while another shows both sides having reed valves. Can anyone confirm this? It's an 88 Festiva L.
