Festiva CAI parts list

• 1) Festiva VAF.
• 1) 2.25" aluminized pipe Aluminized steel or get Nice Stainless steel pipe with 45 degree silicone couplers. Or T6 Aluminum pipe Speedmetals.com
• 1) 3"+ ID K&N Cone filter. Or Green Filters
• 1) VAF to Filter adapter for a Mazda RX-7. Filter adapter 1 or Filter adapter 2
• 3) 2.25 ID silicone couplings (colors)* Any Configuration
• 6) hose clamps.. anywhere or www.turbohoses.com
• 1) Filter Shield Nice or a Piece of 1/8 Plexiglas aprox. 12"x12".
• 1) 3/4" O.D. Nipple
• 1) 1/2" O.D. Nipple

Here we go.

I torched out a hole under the original VAF box for the filter to go through..
I'll clean it up later.

A nice round 6" hole would be better..

I had the pipe custom bent on a Mandrel bender, but it can be spliced with poly couplings.

I just kept test fitting and bending until I got it where I wanted it.

Don't forget the vent hoses..

I torched a few holes in the pipe and welded on the nipples.

A temporary coupling on throttle body.

I re-routed the throttle cable under the intake sliding the rubber guard to meet the pipe

Now to the VAF.. I made a custom adapter and attached it.

I have a Fernco coupling on the other end.

You will have to unravel the VAF wires a little.

An RX-7 adapter should be used here.. But why buy what you can make for 3.00

This K&N Filter is a bit large, but was all that was available at the time.

8" with 4" opening. You will need a smaller filter if using a aftermarket adapter.

Everything together and ready to break down and paint.

We need a filter guard to keep the elements away.

All painted with High heat ceramic coating. Powder coating would be better.

I figured I would do the cam cover while I was at it.

A piece of Plexiglas as a temporary shield.

I have since replaced the shield with a rubberized lining that covers the filter.
This is to protect the filter from water or dirt being kicked up onto it from the tire.

Painted and Finished

This added with the new 2.25" cat back exhaust, I have noticed a nice little change in hp.

Notes:

*One of the couplings will have to stretch to 2.75 to fit on the VAF. Or you can get the 2.25 - 2.75 adapter from www.turbohoses.com

** I haven't tried this on the stock bumper, so you're on your own here.

***Stock Hood clearance may be an issue, as I am using the GTX style hood.
