DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

There is only one type of instrument cluster available. This instrument cluster does not have a tachometer.

The main components of the instrument cluster are:

l instrument cluster housing

l bezel/lens assembly

l printed circuit board

l illumination bar

l instruments

l gauges

l warning/indicator lamps

The instruments consist of a speedometer and an odometer. The gauges include a fuel gauge and an engine coolant temperature gauge. Warning/Indicator lamps include turn signal and warning indicators.

The instrument cluster face is composed of three boards. Connections at the back of the cluster include the speedometer cable and two multiple-pin electrical connectors.

 

The instrument panel/cluster illumination includes:

l gearshift selection indicator (ATX)

l rear defrost switch

l climate control panel

l radio and tape illumination

The intensity of each lamp is adjusted simultaneously by the dimmer switch, except for the radio illumination lamp which cannot be adjusted. The headlamp switch must be on, in either of the two detents, for the lamps to illuminate.
