DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
The position of the throttle plate is regulated by the accelerator cable. A
ferrule attached to the cable end engages the throttle cam at the throttle body.
From the throttle cam, the cable enters a casing that routes through the engine
compartment to the bulkhead. At the accelerator pedal, a plastic insert with
lock tabs is used to secure the cable.
The accelerator pedal is mounted on a bracket that is secured to the floorpan
with two bolts. A pin extending through the bracket provides the pedal pivot
point. When the pedal is pressed, its rotation on the pivot pin pulls the cable
and opens the throttle plate. When released, a spring returns the pedal and
throttle to the idle position.
