Cylinder Head Removal
Cylinder Head and Related Components
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Remove the spark plug wires and spark plugs.
4. Remove the distributor.
5. Remove the timing belt.
6. Remove the valve cover.
7. Remove the exhaust manifold.
8. Remove the intake manifold.
9. Remove the front and rear engine lift hangers and the engine ground wire.
10. Remove the wire harness connectors.
11. Remove the radiator upper hose.
12. Remove the water bypass hose and bracket.
13. Remove the cylinder head bolts.
14. Remove the cylinder head and gasket.
Installation
1. Clean the cylinder block and cylinder head gasket surface.
NOTE:
Ensure the cylinder head and cylinder block gasket surfaces are clean before
installing the gasket.
2. Install the cylinder head gasket.
3. Install the cylinder head and the bolts. Tighten the cylinder head bolts, in the order shown, to 50-60 N-m (35-40 lb-ft). Repeat the tightening sequence, tighten the bolts to 75-81 N-m (56-60 lb-ft).
4. Install the water bypass hose and bracket.
5. Install the radiator upper hose.
6. Install the wire harness connectors.
7. Install the front and rear engine lift hangers and the engine ground wire.
8. Install the distributor.
9. Install the intake manifold.
10. Install the exhaust manifold.
11. Install the valve cover.
12. Install the timing belt.
13. Install the spark plug wires and spark plugs.
14. Fill the cooling system.
15. Connect the negative battery cable.
