Wiper Motor
Disassembly
1. Remove the wiper motor electrical connector from the gear cover by spreading
the lock tabs and sliding the electrical connector off the gear cover.
2. Remove the three attaching screws and the gear cover.
4. Remove the armature from the gear housing.
5. Remove the two attaching screws and the brush plate.
6. Remove the four mounting insulators from the gear housing.
7. Remove the rubber washer from the output arm.
8. Remove the output arm attaching nut.
9. Use a punch to make alignment marks on the output arm and
output shaft.
10. Remove the output arm.
11. Remove the dust boot from the output shaft.
Assembly
1. Install the dust boot on the output shaft.
2. Install the output arm and attaching nut. Tighten the output arm attaching
nut to 20-25 N-m (15-18 lb-ft).
3. Unload the brush spring tension. Carefully pry the brush spring out of the
slot in the brush guide and rest it against the back of the guide.
4. Position the brush plate and install the attaching screws.
5. Route the insulated brush lead as shown and ensure that the wiring grommet is properly seated in the gear housing.
6. Install the armature.
7. Position the brush springs against the back of the brushes.
8. Install the armature cover and attaching screws.
9. Apply a narrow bead of sealant around the edge of the gear cover.
10. Install the gear cover and three attaching screws.
11. Install the wiper motor electrical connector on the gear cover.
12. Install the rubber washer on the output arm.
13. Install the mounting insulators.
