(Festiva and trailer)

I thought I'd share one of my latest projects - a cargo trailer - to be built from a lightly used and previously modified 40"x48" Northern Tool special with 8" wheels, including spare, and an 800lb tongue crank (OVERKILL!!!!!!!!!!!). The trailer was a $150 find on Craigslist, and the cargo carrier was a gift from my dad in hopes that it could be restored and used. Damn, I love my dad. Anyway, this isn't really a build thread for Festivas, so I thought it would do well in the pics section since it's mostly pictures of the trailer as it is and then what it will become as I work on it. Special thanks as well to Bebandit for being a hell of a guy and letting me work on my projects at his place.

My father-in-law has a cool little folding trailer. I thought about getting a little trailer to pull behind my jeep but I would want bigger tires so I can use it for camping offroad.

You could raise the suspension using blocks, then mount 12" tires to it.

The trailer is far from done. The wiring was threaded just before SF11, and is unfinished. The plastic shell will be heated to soften the corners so I can smooth them out (because of cracks and small holes due to time outside) and use fiberglass patching to keep them that way, and then the shell is headed to Line-X, where it will be sprayed with 1/8" red bedliner to regain longevity and add some strength. The bottom will be sprayed black. The universal properties of the trailer have given me ideas for inserts that slip in where the side-panel posts go, so that I can remove the shell entirely and insert another custom module. Plans include the cargo shell module, a "farm-style" fence and gate module, a tie-down rail module (for carrying engines, trans's, and whatever else you'd need to tie down), and lastly, a pair of motorcycle holders for two mopeds. I've considered building a fold-out tent base to use instead of having a tent on the ground, but I scrapped that. If the funds allow, I'm going to convert a 6-foot tall 5x8 enclosed utility trailer into a hard-shell popup, to be reduced in height by two feet during travel. I'll post plans for that later.

christmas lights, stoves, saws, carpets.. every thing for a couple weeks!!
