The best doner is the Capri XR2, it has the trans AND proper axles. The Escort trans is a hyd clutch and te Capri is a cable one. The 323 GT will work also but you need the Capri axles

        mazda 323 gt g25mr
i probably missed a few but the only 2 with g25mr is capri xr2 and 323 gt

those are your only 2 options a escort will fit but is a hydraulic slave cylinder

close, but not quite. The G5MR, also know as the G15MR, is the first generation of the G series transmission. The G25MR is the second generation. Very commonly confused. For the most part it doesn't matter, and to be technically correct the transmission in the capri XR2 and the 323 GT is a G5MR.

The different jackshafts has to do with the motor the transmission is hooked to. When using the jackshaft from the capri on a BP, it will not just bolt up, you have to modify it. The cable and hydraulic difference is mostly external, and can be swapped between transmissions, but for the most part people don't do it, because when you can find the parts, you also find a good transmission.

The MX-3 with the 4 cyl has an F-series transmission. The V-6 has the G-series tranny, though it will not bolt to a 4-cyl.

I would suggest reading the sticky that was linked to at the top of the page. There is some incorrect information in this thread that can be cleared up by reading that link. It has almost all the information you are looking for and probably more.
