Revised Western Canada Meet

I put some more thought into this and have come up with an alternative so here goes.

Kananaskis Country is a beautiful area just west of Calgary so I propose that we meet at a spot called Wedge Pond on Saturday afternoon around 2 or 3pm and have a picnic meal together. There's a fairly large parking lot and quite a number of picnic tables. Mount Kidd campsite is very close for those who want to stay for a night or two. I'm going to head out of Friday afternoon, camp at Mt. Kidd Friday night and meet up with anyone that can make it. It's about 30km (20 miles) south of the TransCanada Highway on Highway 40. I think I mentioned this before... if you've seen the movie John Q you've seen Highway 40. This is the road that's seen in the opening sequence.

There's a lot to do in the area. For those that like to golf the Kananaskis courses are very nice and quite reasonable, there's bike trails of all kinds, hiking, fishing..... and much more.



Hopefully this will make it a lot easier for more people to make it out if only for the Saturday afternoon.

Hello again everyone. I just made my reservations at Mount Kidd and there's not too much left in the way of campsites. There are others in the area and for those who prefer a solid roof over their heads there's a couple of hotels at Kananaskis Village.

I'm still interested if I can find a place to camp with showers. I'm working on that. I'll have my daughter with me and I'll be tenting it since my Dad's fifth wheel won't hitch up to the festy.

OK guys a quick call to bow valley campground discovered they only reserve half the sites. Shes says we have a pretty good chance of still getting places if you get there early friday or give a call thurs/fri! And even if some are late most places are down with two or three tents a site so we should be good!

i like the look of the bow valley campground, and also the camping with 3 tents makes it even better. if everyone like it i think we should try to get some sights there.
