  • I had a great time!!! You're right, the stares and looks we got during the convoy was classic! Everyone that I saw was smiling, pointing or waving. And when we drove by that Jiffy Lube place, all the mechanics came out of the bays and started waving at us at the stop light.

    That was so cool!!

Dean, you really did an awesome job! Happy Birthday and thank you again for the parts!!

Thank my girlfriend Jen for that! She beeped my horn and started waving to the techs!

Dean and Barbara, thank you so much for the hard work you put in to making this a truly wonderful time! Jen and I had a blast, and we both enjoyed meeting everyone there.

I'm definately looking forward to next year's meet!!!

        • Sparky, Wrestler,

          Ref: Meets

The first things you need to decide are who you are trying to attract and what the date is going to be.

Are you are mainly trying to get people in your local area or are you interested in organizing a regional meet.

The first Festiva Madness meet last October was set up to try to get mainly NC people together. We had 7 cars show up and many of the locals did not come due to the fact that there wasn’t much notice of the date and they had schedule conflicts.

This year, we set on a date much earlier and tried to get more people involved. We ended up with 23 cars. Plans are to have this meet the 1st or 2nd weekend of October in the future. If people know ahead of time what the date is going to be, they have time to plan for it.

If you are trying to attract locals, set a date at least a month ahead so folks can plan for it. But, if you want to try to set up a regional meet, pick a date several months ahead so you can advertise it and people can schedule time to come.

The wife and I attended the Ohiostiva Meet last May and I can tell you we will attend it again next year if at all possible.

We would try to make any south east regional meet. Atlanta is only about a six hour drive from here and we could possibly meet up with others on the way down and drive together. Convoys are always fun.

I have done meets for many years in other clubs that I am a member of. The best turn outs have been where it is an annual event year after year the same weekend of the month so people know what to expect.

Remember , you can’t make everyone happy with the date all the time. Example, August meets are always out for me to attend due to my job duties that month for the past 22 years. One day I will retire and August will belong to me

Also, we set the date several months ago and the found out that Sam1956, the other half of Festiva Madness, was going to have to be out of town on a business trip and wouldn’t even be able to go himself.

So, pick a date. Stick with it. Advertise it no less than 3 months before the date.

The longer ahead of time folks know that you are having the meet the better they can plan to attend.

E-mail me if you have questions.

It was Dean's birthday (my Dad). He was so busy planning this meet that we couldn't celebrate it. So we surprised him at the meet with the Festiva Cake.

I think it went over well.

It was good to meet you all!

                            • One of my daughters today became the proud owner of a Ford Festiva. The Festiva was at the Festiva Madness meet last Saturday. The owner has owned this car for many years and decided it was time to let his baby go to a new home.
My daughter drove my yellow Festiva in the convoy so I could video. She came down with the symptoms of Festiva Madness and the only cure was to get one.
