  • 09 stl meet aftermath

well i hope everyones trip home was better than mine. i made to the interstate from the waterfront entrance and my battery charger warning light came on and the car began to lose power. i was only able to make it to about 10 miles north of I-70 on I-61 when my car finally broke down and we had to wait on a tow truck to take us the rest of the 1.5hrs home. its a quick fix though just an alternator.

for anyone that wants a few pics i took some while i was there so heres the link to where they are http://s286.photobucket.com/albums/l...%20stl%20meet/

Wow, bad luck. How much was it to tow it 1.5 hours?!

Dude, that sux! Shoulda stayed in town, we'd helped ya get an alt on there for sure! Woulda been lots cheaper than that tow. Sorry to hear that though, at least it wasnt raining buckets like it has been around here lately.

Thats gotta suck.Roughly 45 minutes into the drive home and you had to be towed the rest of the way. Im thinking it woulda been cheaper to rent a room for the night and hit a McAutoparts this morning than get towed all that way. Unless you know someone.

BTW this should really be in General Discussion.

                Dude, that sux! x2! x3!

I'm thinkin that before a meet like this, maybe we all oughta exchange phone#'s and when there is a break down, coming or going, one could put in a call to the "Ford Festiva Crisis and Rescue Response Team"!
A team of highly qualified personnel (ahem) would be dispatched to the scene to diagnois and speed recovery, and get everyone to and home from the Meet!

                    Dan,

Yes it would be of great help for the folks coming to exchange numbers along with travel plans. When the Madness group convoyed up to Ohio this year, I have spare parts like two front yokes complete, along with rear spindles with hub, fuel pump, distributor, alt. and and even a tow bar. I knew all the folks coming up with me and most were running stock.
                    Even had all tools needed.

This time coming to St. Louis meet it was just Barbara and I. Had replaced all axles, bearings, clutch, I don't travel far without some spare parts and always have tools. This trip
the only spare items were new bearings along with seals, packing grease and a complete rear hub with spindle.
So far no problems this trip up and back.

John offer me a spare distributor for the return trip home.

When there are Madness meets in Raleigh each year I give my cell number to everyone coming just in case they run into trouble. I keep a truck and car trailer ready should a Festiva needs to be rescued.

This year several of the folks attending Madness had some troubles and others here in Raleigh took on the task of getting fellow Festiva owners back on the road to make it home.

At any given Festiva meet there are many that can help one another with problems that pop up.

That is what makes this group one of the best!!!!!

A BIG +1 on Dan's suggestion. I was thinking the same thing when I read the first post in this thread. We could have one person, say the event coordinator, give his phone # to everyone who will attend. Folks will call him when/if there is a breakdown; he will know the local Festiva yokels here and call an appropriate one for parts or repair expertise, and to organize a rescue mission. It also helps, obviously, if peeps can caravan when coming from a distance, so that between them they might have whatever part is needed if they are still quite a ways from the meet.

I for one can totally relate to that, two years ago at the fall ohiostiva, my clutch blew out in my 300zx and Brian let me leave my car at his house, let me borrow a car to try and get home (although i got denied at the border for being a canadian in an american car) and took my car to a shop for me to get it fixed and i had to just go back down to his place and pick it up to drive it home

You did notice in Dean's sig about "Festiva Rescue", right? It isn't just a clever by-line. He did a rescue on the Sunday after Madness-3, where he went & got a Festy with his truck/trailer, brought it back to his house & we rebuilt the left rear hub to get the folks back on the road. It was the coolest thing, to be able to pitch in to fix up a little car & get it back on the road.
