Convoy to Sunshine Meet - Who's In?

We have emailed and talked to several people who are interested in meeting up to convoy to Florida for the first ever Sunshine Meet, so Barbara (Smedley) and I thought it might be easier to start a planning thread so we can find out who else wants to go.

Personally, we want to go the the dragstrip on Friday, so we are planning on leaving Thursday and coming back on Sunday. (I'm not planning on running the BP on the strip, but Smedley says if you twist my arm hard enough, I might get talked into it! ha).

Anyone north of us who wants to go along, is welcome to crash here Wednesday night.

From Raleigh, the most direct route is down I-40 to I-95 and then I-95 all the way to Florida. Drive time is about 10 hours, but we stop a lot, so could be longer.

Anyone south or west of us interested in going, let us know and we can try to coordinate a meeting point so we can drive together. hint, hint --- Britstiva --- we could meet you at a Fayetteville exit. (Hey Florida folks! Chime in here! If Jeremy drives his Aspire instead of his Festiva, you'll still let him come to the meet won't you?)

Barb is looking into room rates and Eurotiva is checking too. There are several places to stay near the meet site. Will post up more info as we find out.

Not 100% committed to going yet. Maybe 99 3/4%.
But I'd definitely be interested in hooking up in Raleigh, and convoying from there. That would definitely make the ride more fun. As long as all the modded Festies don't mind slowing down enough for a B3 to keep up.

Going to be in the odd position of having to chose which Festy goes, and which one stays home. :shock:

Florida Convoy T-shirts for all that travel with us

If you are going to convoy down to Florida with the Madness group there will be an official Madness Convoy to the Florida meet t-shirt. PM your size needed and pick up when meeting the convoy T-shirt is free.

Will be doing pre-trip preparations such as wheel bearings, axle inspection, replacement if needed over the next few weekends. All are welcome to attend a work on your Festiva weekend.

Don't be afraid to do a road trip.
If you have done the needed maintenance require your car should have no problems.

Come on down Wednesday night if you like. Several others will be here.
Just bring a blanket, sleeping bag or what you have. There is always floor space, couch space etc.
We had 14 folks stay here for Madness and had a blast!!!!!

160 miles you might do in a couple of days driving around in the city. No big deal. Go for it!

Can you drive over here to Raleigh one weekend soon.

That would be a good shake down to find any problems.

I have a car trailer attached to my truck should while on the way here if there are any problems.

Once here stay the weekend if you like and we will jack your car up, check bearings etc.

Have a very good supply of stock used parts if needed.

When we do travel down to Florida there will be a good number of us to help each other if needed. Have lots of spare parts along with tools when the group travels.

You will make it man!!!!

Yes, that would be majorly sucky. But all we can do is get it in as good a shape as possible and bring spare parts if available; coil, disty, etc.; stuff that might go bad with no warning, usually electrical.
