  • Well, I was on some crappy expressway going around Youngstown and hit a freaking crater in the road that I somehow did not see (probably glancing at gps) and it pretty much knocked me silly for a second and now the cracks in my windshield are about 3x bigger.

Wish I knew how to or knew someone who knew how to install a j/y one for you...

You can get new ones installed reasonably, about $150 or less installed.

        • I'm sure it would be cheaper to get a j/y one and have someone install it on the side.

doubt it....if you can get it done for $150 with a new windshield I would jump on that.

                • I was joking around with Brad "bhazard" that he would get hungry on the way and it would show up without the passenger side mirror or rear wiper. lol!

Yeah I would have liked to but I needed to help the family with stuff for my grandfather's funeral Tues. Car is back up & running but with a funny valve noise. Might have to swap it out the head anyway. If not I have a B6 laying around that needs to go somewhere.

So all and all it was 1051 miles door to door 30.5 gallons of gas

                          • 4 hours, with diversions

Made it back home exactly at midnight. Two six car pileups in town.
+ stopping in Meadville for a Dairy Queen cone.

I did a complete circle around Lake Erie.
Here are some pics I took while waiting on the Blue Water Bridge.

I slept over at Cedar Point Wildlife Refuge

Here's a pic of the Cedar Point at Sundusky early the next morning

I drove the back roads through farm country almost all the way, before I got on 18 past Wellington.

Next time I'm going to take the ferry from Pelee Island (and bring my Festiva).

                            Great meeting you all.

I didn't even notice the name. It must of did another trip. She was coming down the St. Clair river from Lake Huron. Those speedboats like to cut across her path even though she has the right of way. You can see the old lighthouse at Fort Gratiot in the first pic.

I stopped at a junkyard in Youngstown, but no Festivas. He told me they had crushed the last one.
