Sunshine Meet Cancelled

Due to Very unfortunate events this weekend, I am cancelling the "Sunshine Meet". I have talked to many people and this is what I have decided to do.

I am willing to host a meet at a later date, but no dates have been set yet.

I will post details as soon as possible. And any ideas will be welcome.

Sorry if this inconveniences anyone. I have talked to the GM of Days Inn, and told her. So no cancellation fees will be applied.

I support you Greg in postponing the sunshine meet, this is trully a sad time. While I was looking forward to this weekend and seeing Dean again, I'm with you to give us a little time to heal a bit.

This is what John told me today to inform me of the unfortunate news, and I agree, however, I didn't know Dean and I will respect senior members' decisions on what happens.

Greg, I think it's very honorable to cancel the meet. It will be a good idea to reschedule the meet again in the future months. Maybe then we can plan a fundraiser drive and donate the proceeds to a heart foundation in memory of Dean.

In the meantime, you be careful if you decide to drive up to NC.

Youve got my support Greg. This has turned into a hectic time and some members are probably going to try to go to the funeral. A later date with some type of memorial in Deans honor would be nice.

I didn't mean to be disrepectful in any way about this. If it's to allow the NC group time to grieve so they can attend later or if its so some of the FLA guys can attend Deans funeral then yes it does make sense to postpone the sunshine meet.

Thanks guys for your understanding. The cancellation of this meet is for multiple reasons. The N.C. crew needs time to heal, as do we all. I WILL host a meet and it WILL be in memory of Dean. He's the one that talked me into committing to this meet. We were sitting in his garage, last Oct. and watching 5 people work on 1 car (to fix the lights). Laughing at the situation, and he said "heck host a meet down there in Florida and I'll be there" It was then that I decided to host a meet. I know he would want it to go on, but I also know he would understand if he was here.

I want it to be good timing and would love for Barb to be able to come. It's gonna be hard to get the big #s without him. He was the "ultimate" festiva salesman.

Unfourtunatley I won't be able to make it up to N.C.

I will try and come up with some ideas for a new date and meet, etc...
