I'm home! Stayed with relatives last night in Huntington, WVa.
I loved the meet! I plan to attend every two years or so, but maybe I'll have to come back next year anyway! Nice meeting everyone, many of whom I can't recall names due to my burgeoning senility.
Just wanted to thank everyone who attended and those watching the progress on the site. Thanks so much for making this meet so special. I know Dad (Dean, V8Festiva) would have loved this turn out and all the camaraderie. I saw some amazing acts of kindness and generosity...and who can forgot the truly fabulous Festiva's from everywhere.
A special thanks to Arty, Will, and John for working on my Festy Friday night. You guys are AMAZING!!!
Barbara and the rest of the committee, you guys can't be thanked enough. You all worked very hard and put on a great meet.
me and josh (speedoholic) got home last night. no words can describe how much we enjoyed meeting everyone. we're extremely grateful to all that helped out w/josh's car. sorry to say it still has the same problem. josh will probably go into more detail about it later. atleast we got home. i also want to thank all those that put this whole thing together. it was more than i could have ever imagined. i truly wish we could have met dean. he's probably beaming from ear to ear . another thanks to (sorry i don't remember your name) for pulling the bumper for me. much appreciated. i had totally forgot about getting it and i walk back outside and there he is standing there w/it. love the camaraderie. good stuff. should be posting up some pics sometime today. got a good vid of everyone rolling into barb's after the convoy. hopefully i didn't forget to thank anyone, but then again i could use more posts :p.
thanks everyone for a great meet! my first event & it was a blast, i enjoyed meeting everyone & their great cars. congrats to the little red pkup it was cool! & i had fun @ the house scrapping the parts car! you guys are great & tks again!
Thank you for the LF parking light! I was able to drive around with legal lighting!
I had an interesting day! I was going to get up and head towards Barb's place when I checked in and found out that we had a problem for Dustin (driverone? don't knw sn) and his wife, Jamie (sp?)....
They camped out at a national park and lost their car keys while gathering wood. So he, wifey and bebandit looked for them all morning. No luck. They called a locksmith figuring they might accidentally locked them in the trunk. Nope... not there. So they waited for me to arrive with the metal detector before moving onto the next step. NO luck with it either.
Next step, they called another locksmith who attempted to make a key for their '02 Saturn. The guy cut 6 keys and not a single code he had worked. So I called Jiminy cricket and he brought over my car and towdolly from barb's....
BUT the Saturn's front bumper was too low for it to roll onto the dolly. (thus a marred up front bumper and hunk'n'chunk taken out one side). So a tow truck was called.
Tow truck arrived and drove off with the car. Then the driver called to tell us the "now-locked-up" Saturn was in neutral and rolling at the dealership. So he scotched the tires and told us to get up there ASAP and put it in gear.
This total event lasted about 8+ hours today. LOL
All in all though, it was fun just hanging out and getting to know some new friends!
just made it home. suprizingly not a min of trouble either way. we did fight the winds really bad coming home thru the mointains, but nothing the b6 couldnt handle. for being my first meet, i felt like i knew everyone for years. thanks so much to everyone that made it possible for this meet. we have already marked it on our calender for next year, if everything goes right we will be driving separate. ya'll turned a sceptic into a beliver. the entire 700+ mile trip home we discussed opions for my wife to get her own festiva and what i have to change and customize. thanks again everyone.
Awesome!! Glad you all enjoyed yourselves at the meet! Hopefully we can turn out that thing you told me about in Nasheville!! And hey... tell the wife I said "BED BUGS SUCK YOUR BLOOD WHILE YOU SLEEP!!!" LOL She'll understand the message.... LOL

would that grandson be the 13 year old who was over there asking me a million questions while i tore the car apart?
seemed like a good kid and he gave us a hand with some of the small stuff right up till he dumped all the sockets out hehehe
Yup that would be him. I figure he'll be able to make FM-VI in his own festy, can't wait
Just got in awhile ago, had a great time. I brought my grandson with me, he will be 14 in Dec. and he had such a good time he talked all the way home about fixing up a 90 L I got recently for him to drive. He's hooked lol. Thanks to Barb and all the committee for the hard work and dedication. Just a few pics here. Will put some of the convoy from FL.
