well....Just put it out there....tell them when you want to have it and see what kind fo response you get from it. You can take a look at some of the other meet threads to see how they have done it. Good luck.

I'm a little hunk of tin, nobody knows what shape I'm in. I've got four wheels and a running board, I'm not a Chevy, I'M A FORD!
I'm waiting on a call to see about a shop tour, and may set another one up, both on Saturday. I can only think about 5 or 6 Festy owners in Oklahoma, but there might be some from Kansas, Arkansas and Texas that might be interested, who knows, might get someone from SW Missouri to show up.

The first meet I put together had 8 cars and about 16 people. I'm in SC. Some people came from as far as Georgia and North Carolina. My second, more publicized meet brought most of the same people back, as well as several others and even some carless Festiva enthusiasts. All in all, 35 people showed up. Next year, I hope to plan for a little more. My advice is, find a niche and fill it. Do something unique with your meet. The tour sounded pretty cool, but what kind of shop? Just curious!
EDIT: Not that this is a numbers game at all. I just wanted to clarify that. Even if it's only four people that show, meeting new people or seeing old friends is what the whole meet scene is about. I'm looking forward to Madness almost as much as Thanksgiving. Turkey pizza...
I'm not concerned on numbers, I just want to meet fellow Festiva owners from the region. I think these cars are going to be harder and harder to find parts for, unlike my 1965 Mustang coupe, I don't think there will ever be a 'Festiva Unlimited' where you'll be able to build a new car from all brand new aftermarket parts, or anyone repoping bodies. Plus, it's nice to put a face to a screen name.
In 2004 I put on a drag race and car show for the FordFE.com website. We had cars & people from as far away as Washington State, California, Florida & Minnesota. There were, IIRC, 6 original Ford Thunderbolts and I think there were 9 427 SOHC (Cammer) powered vehicles there. One guy from Florida brought 4!! We had some factory Ford drivers there as well as some of the Ford engineers responsible for the Nascar and drag racing efforts.
Compared to that, this ought to be relatively easy. That was 6 months of planning and $18k, sponsorships, t-shirts, trophies, banquet hall, porta-potties, track rental, million dollar liability policy, fliers, radio commercials, tents, walkie talkie rental, volunteers, golf cart rentals, tons of phone calls and emails.
Unfortunately, it only brought in $11k, that's why there was only ever 1 event.
Post something in the meets section.
Arrange a time and place to meet and see who comes.
First Madness was, what, I forget, five cars maybe.
We used to put stuff up just to see if we could meet at some local place for lunch.
If you want to get some others aside from your friends, give them a little notice.
Now would be a good time to post.
Lately, we keep having get togethers that aren't actually meets, just folks working on cars and others show up and hang out. That's what happened here yesterday and down in Hertford at kartracer46's last weekend.

.
We had 7 the first year.
Whatever you do, set a date well in advance... this gives people time to plan for it. Don't move the date once it's set. That ticks people off for those who plan in advance.
And make sure you patronize businesses near the meet. They will invite you back time after time!
