  • Festiva Madness V Meet Details Oct 1, 2011 Raleigh NC

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN! GET YOUR MOTORS RUNNING FOR MADNESS V!

This will be at the same location as the last two years in Raleigh NC on October 1, 2011 from 10:00 until ..., behind Triangle Town Center Mall. Like last year-If you drive a Festiva or an Aspire you'll get a t-shirt! A sign up sheet is here:

Please list your size, and if you’ll want additional shirts beside your name. The costs of the extra shirts are TBD.

For mapping purposes, use 5811 Poyner Village Parkway, Raleigh NC
If your GPS unit allows you to enter LAT & LON directly, the coordinates are:
    LAT = 35.863477, LON= -78.569769

We may also have a couple of vendors there selling things for our cars. If you know of any company that would like to be there let me know.
Last year was a warm, sunny day so we recommend bringing sunscreen, hats, as well as lawn chairs. In case of rain, we will meet in the parking deck in the same shopping center, so don't let the threat of rain keep you away.

If you have any questions or ideas please PM Smedley. Thank you in advance.

Once again, cast your ballots for Fan Favorite, the cost is $1 per vote. Again this year proceeds will go to the AHA, in the name of our founder, Dean Allen. Vote as many times as you like, it’s all for a good cause. This year, there will also be voting for the best beater. This will be for the worst looking/about to fall apart Festiva driven to the meet. More details soon.

We will also be selling Festiva Madness bracelets and key chains again this year. Profits from the sale of these items also go to the AHA.
Other awards will also be awards for highest mileage, lowest mileage, farthest traveled, bad luck (but still made it to the meet), and earliest build date.

More info will be posted as we can. Post questions here, but use the link above to sign up as attending and posting t-shirt sizes. these are detail maps of the site.

We are looking forward to seeing everyone again this year!

      From the info above:

"This year, there will also be voting for the best beater. This will be for the worst looking/about to fall apart Festiva driven to the meet."

I don't know about this Barbara. I'm now thinking about what to unbolt from my beater and maybe what to drag underneath to create the best sparks! How about miscellaneous household goods and construction materials hanging out the windows? Perhaps a fender flapping in the breeze? I can make it happen!!

Is it safe to encourage folks like this?

Karl, I thought it might prompt you to bring aquamutt with the mismatched seats and everything else. LOL The idea belongs to kartracer46. He said they do it at the 5er meets and we ought to add the category.

We would have had a sure winner at Madness 2 when justknight's car was still in the works. It had one seat, no carpet, partially sanded and primered and a couple of different colors. and I can't remember now what all. Then he brought it to FM3 and FM4. It was the black metalflake car and you would not have known it was the same car. Carpet in that car came out of the FM2 pull apart car and, I think he snagged some other parts to get his car finished.

Car still has to be able enough to make it to the meet. It can be primer and three other colors, rusted out, torn seats, dented, missing door cards and whatever else. Jay is now thinking he will have to get one running to enter!! Too bad he scrapped Jester, that car would have probably qualified. Aquamutt would have competition.

I thought it would be fun. And show that you don't have to have a gorgeous swapped car to have fun with a Festiva.

We are planning on spending three nights in the Washington DC area which will give us two full days to explore. Can anyone recommend a decent hotel south and close to the train? We're trying to stay in Super 8's/Ramada/Days Inn if possible.

          Thanks

Ian, you do know about the various travel sites that have reviews to read about? Sometimes you can get some info about the surrounding area and how safe it may or may not be, as well as how the hotel stay was for others.

            Expedia is one I've used.

OK folks, don't forget to put your shirt sizes on the attendance list or PM them to me. If you need something special, like bigger than a 3X, I will need to know ahead of time so we can get it.

I now have four reserved campers. Anyone else? Not sure how much space I need to make for camping.

T-shirts. Remember shirts are free for the driver. Other shirts will be $10.00.

Repair Help - Anyone having issues, there will quite a lot of knowledgeable help here at Madness. If you are having an issue and are coming to Madness, let kartracer46 know. He will try to organize some repair help.

Euro, I assumed he meant fast built as in time to put car together. Not speed on the streets.
