  • Clunkerball Run (NY to LA) in our 1990 Festiva

We are running our 1990 Festiva with 232,000 miles in the Clunkerball Run. The Clunkerball Run is New York to LA in a $500 car; No Route, just get there. Just like the outlaw Cannonball Run from the 70's, we are leaving the Red Ball Garage in Downtown NY at the stroke of midnight on March 8th, 2012. From there we have 2 days to make it to the Santa Monica Pier in California. Its going to be a whole lot of caffeine, gasoline, duct tape and prayers. Follow us and our little Festiva that could. Even every up, every down, every pic and every video will be on our blog. Ride shotgun with us at:

Send us some luck and say a prayer for us......we will need it.

    Hammer Down,

    Chuck

Thanks for the words of encouragement. We are nearly 700 miles in and she's running phenomonal. She's staying cool, 35-36 mpg but with the head shaved 30 thousandths we were concerned it could be worse. Had an issue with a faulty fuel gauge that resulted in us getting pushed to the petrol station but aside from that she's golden. We have uploaded some photos and videos at our blog, check it out.

Proving we've failed to learn from our mistakes we're once again attempting to drive from NYC to LA...
