Update: Guys we made it and I am back in Denver. Our little Festiva did awesome. Even after the rush head job (milling it over 30 thousandths) she just kept trucking. We kept her wound tight and had her over 90 a bunch. I didn't think we could but she just kept going and asking for more. We averaged 33 to 37 miles per gallon. It was weird though, we seemed to get better fuel economy in the higher elevations. Could be the lack of winds or just not factoring in the downhills. We drove from Denver to NY then NY to LA. We covered over 5,000 miles and burned over 148 gallons of fuel and 6 quarts of oil. For any of you all that have not checked out the entire adventure check it out at http://clunkerballrun.tumblr.com/. As for our 1990 Festiva proudly named Black Ice, we sold her in LA. Sadly we sold her to Pick Your Part but they said since she ran so good she would go to auction not get parted out and crushed. They paid us $450 for her. We wanted to sell her to someone that would love her like a wife but you have to smog all cars before selling in CA. There is no way she would have passed smog. We had too much fun doing the CBR. We have already decided to do it again next year. I will post something here as details come together.
Thanks again to all of you for your help, advice and encouragement. Without you all we never would have made the race nor finished it. I now see why you guys love Festivas so much......they are outstanding cars.
Hammer Down,
Chuck

Wish I would have known that you wanted to sell it at the end. Would have been at the pier with five hundy cash, and since I'm not going to register it in calli there would be no need for emissions.Driving for me is neither a right nor a privilege. Driving is my passion, as it was for the people who invented the automobile, the people who paved the first roads and the people who continue to improve the automobile. Please respect this passion.
