WHEN?
MARCH 22-24, 2013
WHERE?
KOA Anderson/Pendleton
200 Wham Rd.
Anderson, SC
GPS coordinates: 34.534702,-82.801655
There are 8 air-conditioned cabins (with wi-fi and flat-screen cable TV) and 2 park model homes, as well as several campsites. Please reserve your housing as soon as you possibly can so we can again take over the campground! They love us at the KOA! If you reserve your cabin, please notify the KOA that you are with the Festiva Group as you will receive a discount or reimbursement at a percentage based on how many of us will reserve as a group, and post which lot you reserved so others will know what's available, and whether or not you'd prefer to split the cost with anyone if there are extra beds. I should note that the mattresses can feel a bit firm to some, and you may want to bring a topper or thick blanket to lay on if that's the case. If you would rather stay in a hotel, there are many options 5 miles north (click here to see hotels in the area), and the only stipulation of the campground is that those who will not be staying at the campground must leave by 10PM. There are no gates, so coming and going is entirely possible after hours.

Last year, Kartracer46 wanted to know about some local "twisties" to stretch his Festy's legs. Anderson has virtually none. However, we aren't that far from the renowned Moonshiner 28, a road so intense that the switchbacks turn on themselves! That Friday afternoon, for those of us with the vehicles to handle it, I would like to introduce the first ever Moonshine Run. There's a place called Highlands Pizza waiting for us approximately an hour and a half away. Pizza, beer (or soda!) and curves. Click here to see the route! 6 PM, after everyone has had a chance to relax, we roll out. Take a look north of Walhalla to see the hard corners.
If you choose to bring your own food, charcoal grills are available throughout the campground.
The barbecue house was a great success last year, so it's only fit to make it a solid part of our gathering. Lunch is at 2PM on Saturday, at The Smokin' Pig!
Sunday at 9:30, we'll convoy to Exit 19A for brunch at Golden Corral, which includes waffles and made-to-order omelets. The gravy biscuits are MINE.
This is a weekend of fun and relaxation for friends and Festiva lovers. I hope you can join us.
