  • Missouri (Area) Spring Meet Discussion

Figured I'd start this thread now and us Missouri Area folk can start talking about when and where we might like to meet up once this colder weather goes away! I know for the last meet we had considered The KC Speedway for some sort of event. Or even a SCCA (Autocross) event. If there are any other cool events going on this Spring around the KC area or even the STL area let's discuss. Though I was thinking this meet would be a KC centered meet.

Here is the current event schedule for the KC Speedway: http://www.kansasspeedway.com/Ticket...-Calendar.aspx

And here is a preliminary schedule for the Autocross in KC...which is held at the Metropolitan Community College-Blue River Campus in Independence, MO:
(Only included Spring Events...there are more through the Summer and Fall)
    Test & Tune - April 6
    Event #1 - April 7
    Rookie School - April 13
    Event #2 - April 14
    Street Survival - May 11
    Event #3 - May 19

There are probably plenty of car shows coming up that would also be fun to go to...music festivals...etc. Let's find something fun to attend while we get to meet and great and check out our cars. Also maybe someone in the area has space to have us all over and do a cookout or something. I'm just spitballing ideas here so chime in and let's figure something out.

Here's a shot of the 6 cars that made it to our last meet at the Watkin's Mill Park/Museum.

We were expecting 10 people at that event, but a couple people couldn't make it. Hopefully we can out do ourselves this time.

I still want to attempt some kind of meet in Southeast Nebraska....somewhere close enough that I can have my band set up for live music and a party. I also wanted to do it around the same time as one of the big national auto events in Lincoln, like Americruise or the SCCA National Championship.

I plan to run Bruce in the autocross this year, and I have a few friends who are regulars. I look forward to seeing everyone again.

Sounds like there is enough of us interested in an Autocross that maybe we should center our meet around one of them. Do you know which one you'd want to attend Reuben?

Quite honestly I know next to nothing about the events, I've never actually autocrossed. But have wanted to. Sounds fun.

I plan to go to as many as I can. Any would work for a meet, they welcome new faces at the events.

We drive quite a long ways, generally bring our own food, and can generally entertain ourselves.
So all you really need, is a time, a date, and a place to meet.

Oh we will, just gonna wait for the weather to warm a bit and for SOLO to start.

For all interested in driving, drop me a PM and I will send a ZIP file with all the info from last year and as we get closer I will contact the MoKan SCCA rep and see what kinda goodies we can deal for.

It truly is amazing how far we will drive just to sit and visit, then drive some more so we can taste test some wine and walk in a cool cellar, yup it was a good time.

sc72, I may still want some goodies from you if you come down. Can't wait for some warmer weather. Another thing we could do some weekend is have a Junkyard run. There are 4 pretty decent JYs around here that usually have some Festiva, Aspires, Proteges.
