Last minute kinda thing. We finished up yesterday at around 11:30pm. Only myself and yogaslacker were in attendance. There were however a total of 7.5 festivas, 1.8 aspires and 1 miata on location.

We got his trans mount/cross member situation remedied. For anybody who's curious the aspire 5spd trans will bolt up to any b-series motor, but the festiva front mount bracket would not align with mounting holes on the trans. Using the aspire bracket as-is results in the mount not lining up with the cross member. Enough force will get the cross member in place but tweaks the engine and trans in the bay and binds up the mounts. Slotting the holes in the aspire trans bracket will allow the bracket to be mounted upside down with 3 bolts and lines up the mount enough to mate with the cross member without tweaking the crap out of it.

We also fixed the broken welded nut in the core support. Turns out the nuts from the knuckle-strut bolts have the same thread as the shoulder bolts for the cross member. Much better than waiting for them from fastenal as the coarser thread in that size is not typically stocked.

Sure, this meeting was mostly business, but not a bad time because of it. There were some snags, but overall it went relatively smooth. Certainly a refreshing change. We finished his repairs, exchanged kind words and wished each other well. Then the traveler we know as yogaslacker was again on his way.
