  • Small convoy to the Festiva Madness?

Looking for a few people to convoy down to the Festiva Madness.
Here is the route I have planned to drive down there to the hotel where Geraldine and I will be staying (Super 8 ).
Maybe we can meet on the way down somewhere and convoy down. Just a thought.

We'll go about 200 miles when we hit Charleston.. if we end up going. What day are you leaving?

IF we go, we'll get to Raleigh mid-day on the 4th. So unsure when we'd leave, likely very early on the 3rd. Long drives are not something we're too used to.

This is our most likely route:

I'm heading down sometime Friday. Probably in the morning sometime. A meet in Charleston is good. How about at the Wendy's off of exit 114? Here: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=U...via=1&t=m&z=17

Or where ever anyone else would like to meet.

I live about 5 miles from I74/US52 junction in Mount Airy and am going down Friday also. Right now there isn't much hope of my Festiva being ready to go, but I'm going anyway. Keep in touch when you work out your schedule.

how about trying to meet in charleston right around noon, and go from there? (unless your wanting to leave super early friday morning)

if you guys south of charleston want to google the distance and a convienient location to stop/meet maybe we could make it a bigger convoy as we go?

So if we met at noon, figuring another 400-ish miles.. that's about 8PM when we'll roll into Raleigh? Maybe 7. Not too bad o_O.

Sounds like this convoy's getting bigger!

shouldn't be that late... google says 4 hrs 57 minutes from charleston wv to raleigh, so about 5pm or so lol... unless for some reason we need to stop for 3 hours?

What can I say. I've always gone by the "Every 50 miles/one hour" standpoint. If it's 400 miles, it's 8 hours. Atleast in my household LOL. Or more like, 400 miles, 400 hours.

Sounds like fun. The convoy can be the best part of the trip. Couple words of advice.

When we went to Ohiostiva, it took about 4 1/2 hours to get from Raleigh to Beckley, WV where we met Nate. That's about an hour south of Charleston. That included a stop for food and a stop for gas.
The second trip took longer because the more cars, the longer the stops because everyone has to talk!!! LOL

If you got em, bring your 2-ways. So much easier to talk to everyone.

Also, the I-40/I-540 corridor between Raleigh and Durham can get real congested in a few areas in the 5-6 time frame with all the commuters trying to get home. Take your time and be careful. Can't wait to see you all and have fun.
