  • Westiva 2015... mark your calendars!

Six months from now may seem like a long way off but not if you're planning a cross country drive!!!

    When: Saturday July 11th, 2015
Where: Wedge Pond, Kananaskis Country, Alberta, Canada (about a one hour drive from Calgary's western city limits).
What: Meet and greet at the pond in the morning. After our picnic lunch we'll take an afternoon cruise to grab an ice cream cone at Boulton Creek Store. This is 40km (25 mile) drive mostly along Highway 40.

Campgrounds in the area fill up fast so I would recommend making reservations.

Mount Kidd (http://www.mountkiddrv.com/) is the closest, and nicest, but there are a couple of other options that aren't too far away.

These are only about a 30-40 minute drive at most from Wedge Pond.

As for hotels the closest are located in Kananaskis Village, not far from Wedge Pond.

Lets see if we can make it back into double digits this year! We had 4 Festivas in '08, 5 in '09, 10 in '10, 5 in '11 and 4 Festivas and a Subaru Vivio in 2012, four Festivas, two Suzuki Swifts, and one lifted Kia Sportage in 2014.

We have had almost spring like weather the last few days and it's got me thinking Westiva! I know it's five months away but I am really looking forward to this year's event. If all goes well my B6T project should be done as well as the body work.

If you are thinking of coming and have questions please ask away!

I have one for you... who will win the long distance award this year? Last year it was bolokid from Pasco WA.

Well hey all, I hope you are all doing good. I had the festy out for its first road trip and she is in need of some love, but we are still planning on attending this year. I still haven't set up accomodations yet as we may just stay at the calaway park campground since the whole family is coming this year. But I am in... who else is coming...

Ok, Now it sounds like we will try to make it to this event in the Hamster.

Are there still any open camp sites ?

Mechanical mayhem and automotive adventure with a side of Canadian crazy, saving cars from the junkyard and giving them a new lease on life. At least for a short time. And probably in ways not intended for automobiles to be treated … but it is fun. As always - 2 guys, 4 wheels (usually). -The DawgStrip Crew.

Just checked the closest campground, Mt. Kidd RV Park, and they are full. Here's a link to area campgrounds to check on vacancies http://www.albertaparks.ca/albertaparksca/visit-our-parks/camping/online-reservations/online-campground-reservation-vacancy.aspx

Most sites look like they are full. Not sure if they hold some sites on a first come first served basis. Probably work a call.

Let me know when you plan to travel, maybe I figure out something on this end.

                        Cheers

Alright, we are all booked up and will be Camping at Lake Louise.

What time of day does the Festiva events start ?

Its going to be fun to stuff all our camping supplies into the 6 square feet behind the seats.
