  • Ohiostiva Spring 2017 feeler

So sorry Karl, but TOM WANTS CHANGE.

Last springs Ohiostiva was a fun meet, but I think this year we can do something different. There are a few reasons for me thinking this.

    1. A more central location for people more likely to come to the meet.
    2. A place that has the means to repair festys that have some bad luck along the way.
    3. An interesting, but not excessive convoy with a little fun road in the middle.
    4. A crazy afterparty with hookers and booze and stuff (not really, but the grill I got out of the trash last month works so hot dogs)

If you haven't guessed where my proposed location is yet, or guessed the tentative #5(i'm lazy and dont wanna drive), I am proposing that Ohiostiva 2017 be hosted in Columbus, OH. I am willing to have Shin-dig at my place/garage for a day+ for a more familiar MADNESS feel. A longer more fixed meet where people can split a possible longer drive over 2 different days is nice. In a madness-esque fashion, people can arrive at my house, then we can go to the meet, then we can come back and cookout and junk. Now you might be thinking, where da heck does Tom want me to drive to. Ill tell you. approximately, 20 miles(30min) south of the TT Customs Garage, there is a Derpy little nature preserve called Stage's Pond. It has a small lot for approx 24 cars, and enough room for some grills, cornhole, and a good time. More importantly, the road from my house to this Pond is a fun little road. It's not a bona fide hooning road, or anything near a swervy as 60 in Virginia(I learned the fun-im-gonna-die way), but is interesting enough to enjoy a small drive just for the drive. So two runs of this road(the there and back) with the meet in the middle. After people are free to hangout at my place and we can wrench or whatever. Leave after the meet. Drive home in the morning if you want. Show up the night before. More flexibility equals more attendance. and splitting drive days makes people with a longer drive more likely to come.

Now that being said, My yard can't fit as may as Barbs can, but it could squeeze a quite few in for sure. Being Ohiostiva, and from what we had last year, it can't hurt to change it up. both of the festivas from the meet ended up at my house after, and 3 of the cars were from Columbus. So let me know what you think. I get it's not a Madness, but It would be cool to get 10 cars this year. And of course, one can't help day dreaming about filling that tiny little nature reserve parking lot. So let me know what you think.
    Tommy

that would be a Crippling 19h drive one way, but Will, you do you, and i'd love to have you. Location changed aimed most at the 4-7h drive bracket that would benefit the most from it being a little closer(more south west that last year), and the ability and motivation/willingness to split the drive/longer "meet". not trying to single out basically Louie and Dave, but like them and maybe 4 other people would experience longer drive times because of location change. they will be ok.

That's an easy 6.5-7 for me. And I'd love to spread it out over 2 days. A much better situation than the typical Summit plan. Especially since we no longer have access to the layover at area-241 for those from southern and eastern locations ( it no longer exists).
          Trees aren't kind to me...

94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

It sounds good to me Tommy. Change can work! Plus, bringing it up now provides plenty of time for planning.

We'll have to get together to talk more soon. PM me when you can meet.

Hey Karl... don't you have a church in the area for such shenanigans? Just thinking, if this blows up past what Tommy's place can hold it might be some good backup.

The biggest problem for me in the spring is usually school - seems like the meets always line up with an exam or something. Hard to plan around that, though!

That sounds fun. Whatever draws a crowd. So Charlie if you come, unless Bob gets any ideas, or Ben decides to visit you then convoy back with you. Some trophy could be arranged.

Haha, I'm just joking. I do want to come. Angie actually suggested it. We will do what we can to make it.

Alright well will go ahead and call this plan a done deal then. I'm going to get with Karl and see what we can plan. With my school as well, this will likely happen on some sorta break. Obviously I'm going to have to wait till I get my schedule, but we would for sure be able to work out exact dates locations by the first week of the new year. However looking at schedules posted online and breaks I can see, best dates for me would be the weekends of March 11th, 18th, and then the weekend of April 22nd. Statically March and April have they same ~54% chance of rain. However, March will be in 50-55 degree range. April typically in the 60-65. Food for thought.
