Is there a possible way to require a location to be entered in a profile during sign up for the site? It would make the forum experience much better for everyone including the noob if we weren't asking every newbie where they live.

In previous version this was not possible.
I don't know if it is possible with the updated packages we have been using.
    Simon, is this possible?

On TeamCapri I use SMF, and have mandated a location, even at registration. Helps to sort out the spammers. Not sure if it can be done with vB though, it is helpful

You bet. I've made the changes to require the location during registration. Thanks for the suggestion!

          Me like!

But I'll bet we start to get locations like "US", "USA", "North America", or "Earth".

Yeah, unfortunately we can't force them to put anything useful in there... but we can hope for the best.
