Nice. My belt and pully rub it so bad it's worn down. I can't find one anywhere other than junk yard. Witch are in worse condition then mine.

Take the cover off, cut the spot out that's rubbing, reinstall cover. Problem solved?

It's a timing belt not chain so it shouldn't need to stay lubricated? So my next question would be, could it run without the cover and if so would it spit oil everywhere?

No oil. But possibly things get in, like mice, sticks, rocks, then your belt could break or jump a tooth. Is it your upper cover?

For the upper cover, this should be one of the first mods done.

To answer your question, yes people here actually own Festivas and get really upset when someone calls them a "Fiesta". I currently own 5 Festivas including 1 BP (1.8) powered with a turbo, 1 BP powered, 1 B6D (1.6) powered that I bought new in 1990.

Trash the engine or the car?

                        And another question.

You have the engine out but don't know the timing belt shouldn't see oil?

I will trash the timing cover. If it doesn't work as planed. Yes on the cherry picker. I was unsure becouse it was flooded with oil so i didn't know if it called for it?

Ps I would never trash a Festiva. Nor sell. To great of a car.

If you have oil in the area of your timing belt, check your camshaft seal and your crankshaft seal. Both are candidates for leaking. I've seen the camshaft seal come completely out before and oil just flowed into the belt area.
