I like Alpine and Kenwood for decks, speakers, I like a warmer sound than most (NO METAL DOMED TWEETERS FOR ME).

Focal, Polk, Image Dynamics (RIP), Alpine, Memphis... just depends on what you're looking for.

If you're looking for good deals on lightly used stuff, www.caraudioclassifieds.org is a good place to go. That's where my RE/Soundstream build came from. Poor 15" RE MX didn't like 2kW in a wall below the window line in my Cavaleir!

JBL, Infinity Reference, Tang Band, and Kicker. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes, and serve.

What is everyones favorite car audio.

Sorry for the bump, but think of it as a revival.

            My faves-

            Rockford Fosgate (Amps and speakers)
            Pioneer (HUs)
            Sundown Audio (subs)
            Alpine (All around)
            DC audio (subs)
            Infinity (speakers)
            Clarion (EQs)
            1990 White L-Plus 5-speed rust-machine
            Scrapped

            1991 Blue L 5-speed
            daily driver, intermittent project

            1993 rustless wonder
A shell, awaiting suspension, brakes, and B6T

Alpine for Head units hands down.

Old school Phoenix gold for amps (that stuff is so under rated its not funny)

And Pionneer has good all around speakers when hooked to decent HU.

For subs , I use Alpine , but theres plenny of good ones.

                for entry level:
                straight JBL set-up.

                midrange:
focal (anything that's not under the BE line)
                morel
                hertz

                high end:
                dynaudio/seas

for headunit i'll go for Pioneer's P99. 4-way full-active, time alignment, cd-transport, bypasses iphone/ipod's dac, so in effect you'll have near cd-quality tone if not cd-quality. given that you use AIFF (raw) or ALAC (lossless).

In my honest opinion, JBL is kind of overrated. And I fully believe that everybody should at least invest in an amp for their front speakers... The difference it makes is not even funny.

ya, a good amp will make almost any speaker sound amazing... I have some old sony speakers in the back of my tracker, I found them in a junkyard in the back of some Honda lol... hooked up to my kenwood amp, they sound AMAZING!!! the key to a good system, is all in the amps and deck... you can get cheaper speakers but don't skimp on the amp....
