  • amp drain on festiva engine?

i have a 89 festiva with a 1.3lt in it and im curious how much of an amp i can get away with before id have to get a bigger alternator. and if it would b hard on my engine. i have an old fosgate punch 250 and a 2000W cap
it may not be fast but ill pass u when u run out of gas

you should be okay with that amp. I'm not sure how many amps the stock alternator can supply, but you would only need a bigger one
if your system's total amperage draw is greater than your alternator's max amperage output.

ok thanks i was a lil worried cause this is the smallest engine ive ever had. i eventually want to put a 12 or two in there which the 250 will have no problems running, 2 component speakers and a couple tweeters. ive already replaced all the factory speakers with memphis and the deck with a pioneer so it sounds pretty good but i miss the bass

my last vehicle was an s-10 blazer with two 12" kickers, the 250 punch and a home made box that hit just shy of 140db. so im missin the bass since ive gotten this lil thing. and sincs its so small it wont take much to get a lot of bass or at least it shouldnt

140db.... thats not bad, my subs are underpowered by about 500 watts and i hit 143db, the body panels really start to vibrate, sometimes i hear the roof flexin in and out, if the body was more solid, i may hit close to 144 with the way everything is set up now

yeah it suprised the heck out of me. it would shake everything on my blazer and even rattle the roof. they hit so hard they pretty much blew out the lock on the tailgate so i couldnt lock it. the air deflector on the back wouldnt stay tight so i had to take it off. it even shook the mirror off the windshield. i had one of my former friends sit in the back seat and they shook his glued in dentures out of his head.

unfortunately i was hookin up my amp one night and the dang thing shorted out for some reason and sent a pretty big charge through the speaker wires and melted the voice coil on one of my subs so i had to have the amp rebuild and since i could afford to buy another sub to replace the blown one i just built a single sub box setup. it only hit 133db though w one 12" kicker.

ouch that would suck, i would definately want to buy another one, if i were to blow one of my solobarics, i would have to get another one, 1 sub just wouldn't be loud enough for me lol

if only the single box i built would fit in my car then id have bass again. i had the amp rebuilt since its the best amp ive ever had. i stripped and repainted it and painted the cap brakets to match and it looks pretty good. heres a pic of what i wish woud fit into my car.

by the pic, it looks like it should fit, look in my profile pics to see my system, i had to take out the back seats, the box is 6 cubic feet

if i could have afforded it i wanted to replace them with 2 kicker compVR 12's. but the job i was at it was all i could do to pay my bills. id like to get a 12" memphis m3 or two and upgrade to a bigger amp and really pound

i dont want to have to do that though. it has an air tunnel with a 10000rpm fan on it to keep the amp cool since it doesnt have an internal cooling fan. and with the tunnel there its too deep to fit. besides that'll go back into my blazer when i get a new engine and tranny for it and get it back out on the road

i built a back dash for it a while back cause it got broken into for what was in the back. so i built that to hide the cargo area from view and i plan the mount 2 component speaker w/ tweeters in it and mount the amp for them under the back dash
