I for one would never add a 2nd battery because I couldn't stand the added weight... that and I can get a good sized cap at the local electronics surplus store for next to nothing ... we're talking about Festy's here ,, an extra 50-60 lbs. (battery, 15-20' of #2 welding cable, spill box) kills the handling... If the goal however is to place the power source/battery closer to the amps I would relocate the battery... relocation doesn't require the fancy gear to balance charging the way a dual setup does.
