what are the advantages of the different types?

  • #2
ported is louder, so if you like the really boomy bass then you want either a ported box or a bandpass (even boomier) that bass is kinda loose for my taste, i like it tight and precise so thats when you want to go with a sealed enclosure. all depends on what kind of music you wanna blast also be sure to match your sub to your box type and volume(l x w x h, not the loudness). you can get the specs for that on http://www.crutchfield.com that will give you the best bass for your buck. put a ported type sub in a sealed box and you will not be getting the best performance.

The right sub in the right ported enclosure will sound good and get stupid loud though.

download this and you can model your sub in it and design a box.

If you have all the parameters of the sub you can add a new driver

i think i'm gonna try to find some run flat tires for my car, if i can i'll drop the hatch area to level with the spare tire carrier, glass in an enclosure for a 12 or 15 sub firing up. put a strong grate over it so that it's level with the original floor. then i'll just get a single amp that can handle my sub and mids and mount it to the back of the seat. all the bass and all the room too. you could also run daul 8" woofers in sealed boxes under the front seats to save cargo space...easier, just not as elegant.

The room under these front seats is amazing I managed to fit a 1000ca battery in a battery box under the drivers side.
