  • Door Speakers

My Festiva, and probably others, has spaces in the doors where it looks like speakers can be mounted. The door skin is also perforated for the hole. There is no wiring in the harness for the extra speakers.

Does anyone have these speakers from the factory? Were they available in the Aspire? I'm looking for the mounting hardware and the trim.

    Thanks.

What more mounting hardware are you looking for? Plastic nutserts fit in the 3 square holes. 5 1/4 and 6 1/2 s fit right in place with no real mod other than using the grilles that come with the speakers, and if they project out too far, you can take a heat gun and bend the window cranks out in two places to clear them. I have Polk 6 1/2 (they fit best), Infinity Reference 6 1/2 , and 5 1/2 in, and have used 4" (you have to bend the sheet metal inward slightly but they clear the wiper cranks best) in mine. Cutouts are outlined on the door panels in almost the full circle. Take your time, and score/cut deeper progressively, then finish on the vinyl from the other side. Works great except that you will want to replace your plastc sheeting moisture barrier at some point with something that does not vibrate with the bass. Passinger side is the worst about it (?). You can get foam cone backers that seal the backs of the speakers too, if you can ever find them in stock at a retailer.Usually they list but don't have any though.
BTW 2 12 subs mounted in the back in a cab work great with a small amp powering them. I have Infinitys in the car to left, Polks in the wifes 70 watt Alpine amps to push some bass, and 4" w/bass blockers in rear stock locations, or 2 old Side Kick cabs with6 1/2s
mounted on top the 12" sub box. Use the Pioneer head units to power the door/rear speakers. Bumps a Festy OK for an old man.

Some in canada had door speakers...............

Not hard at all to get them in, but window crank clearance is nonexistent. Take a look at my 6.5'' all around thread in the Audio forum.............

I mounted speakers mounted in the doors in my car. They're not the 6 1/2" but the 5 1/4". I took the door panel off and mounted the speakers directly to the door, cut the hole in the panel and then found some speaker grilles in an older Mazda to fill it in. You can sort of see what I mean in a couple of photos here http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2334930/2. There no issues with window crank clearance and it almost looks factory.

        Hope that helps

I have infinity Referance 6.5's in the front and rear mounted them just as m715 stated above. With a adjustment to get it just perfect so the crank inside clears and the hand crank clears its a great look. I lost my original grills on the front but had a set off another 6.5 cross fires that i wasn't using. I also have 2 12's with 2600 watts it sounds great in that little car i get so many looks and thumbs up. In the original speaker location i put my tweeters so overall its a really clean look because i have the original cover in the rear, i had to modify it and the speaker grill in the rear for clearance but i think it looks good. check it out!

I've got those in my 91 and I think they're 4inchers, if you have the automatic seatbelts just run your own wires through the wires that are there. I plan on using those holes for my system thats going in after I get some more money. I want to do a simple 6 speaker system with 4inchers, 6x9's in the rear, and some tweeters in the front speaker holes.
