  • problems hooking up head unit

    i just got a jvc sk124 and wired it up. i got every thing wired and turned it on and all it did was try to eject something and shut off. thats all it will do. do u think its wired up wrong or is it a bad stereo??

    Sounds like something is messed up inside. Is this an older unit? A search at the JVC site turned up nothing with that number.

        Id double check you hot wires make sure youve got them correct. 1 will be constant power to hold memory and time when car is off and the other is actual power when the key is turned on. double chack and make sure your grounds are good as well.
        Also make sure there wasnt some sort of transport screw in the unit that was supposed to come out before installation.Some manufactures put them in.

          I had 2 old jvc's do the same thing to me, but they weren't new......

            i just got it working. i had to run the memory and the power main on the same wire, the constant source. it works but my memory still doesn't work. do u know y??

              Youve still got something wrong. You shouldnt have them both running to the same source.

                Constant (Yellow wire typically) should be connected to something that is always live, Switched (red wire Typically) gets connected to something that gets switched on when the key is turned on.

                Sounds like you have both hooked up to what only the switched (typically Red) should be hooked up to.

                  like stated above...you do not have it hooked to a constant...it is only on when the key is on...you need to find a full time power source.

                    The funniest part about this is, for me at least, that in the festy we just got, we have the same problem, but I havent tried to fix it yet.
