Radio Security

Did a search and didn't see anything in regards to this so here goes...
my radio has an incorporated security thing in it with a flashing led. What im wondering is can i put in another CD player? as it's a stock tape deck taking the security thing into consideration.

you should be able to. a stock radio with a security device? thought we were talkin bout festys here. but ya, i dont know how it would stop me from putting one in it...make sure you disconnect your batery before you change out the radio so it kills power to the security device.

you can take it out the stock player wont work ne more though but if you getting rid of it any way no worries 8)

ah so the stock radio with the security light has no bearing on the cars security or does it? i mean if i pull it out will the car still start?
ultimately I'd like to pull it out and put a CD player in there, are the wires easy enough to do yourself?

as far as wiring....if you know just a little about wiring you shouldnt have a problem, radios are relatively easy...any new radio will have a wiring diagram, all you need to do is figure out your existing wires. if the security device is in the radio only than it wont afect any part of the car itself. what a radio security device does is shut down the radio in case of theft. that way they have a radio that they cannot use which makes it pointless to steal

you can buy (if your lucky enough to find it) a wiring kit so you dont have to do any cutting of your factory wires. you just unplug the old radio...plug in the wiring kit...and match up the new colors to the new radio........EASY if you can find it
