i just bought this nextar cdplayer for about 70 bucks, and it wont work. im pretty sure i did it right, i used nattyphyscists wiring codes but im left iwtha black and red wire.
the cd player has a Black wire for ground, but also a screw on the back for ground. It has a yellow backup memory wire, and a red power wire.
can anyone maybe tell me why this wont work?
    Thanks

just wondering you said you were left with a black and red wire?? if so this is your prob! the black wire is your ground and red is your power wire, the yellow should stay hot at all times.red is only on when switched on.

blue wire is if you have a power antenna, it makes the antenna go up... you don't have a power antenna do you?

assuming you have a multimeter, check your hot wire for current with the key on, and check the ground for continuity. I don't remember having an extra black wire in the festiva harness, unless its the ground (check continuity with a body ground), and stefan is right about the striped red i believe its actually the "dimmer control" so that you can dim the radio w/ the dash lights; most after market units don't have dimmer control.

i checked my hot@alltimes and Run ACC wires, and my ground wire, they all have charges, is my cd player maybe just messed up out of the box?

dont need it unless power ant is on your car. sometimes you will have 2 blue wires, power ant. and 1 will be a remote wire. (switched not constant)

possible, i would check to see if theres a fuse on the cd player itself(most have them) and then test it by running the wires straight to the battery.

pop your hood and hold the red and yellow wires to the positive side of your battery and the black wire to the negative side of your battery. If the deck dosent do anything and the fuse in the deck is OK then the deck is toast!
