  • Custom Sub Box

I have been spending too much money into the car lately.. Oh well..

I just bought a JLW3V3, a sweet sub, and i am just wondering if anyone here has done some kind of small custom sub box.. fibreglass/wooden.. kinda like the stealth-box... that would be pretty sweet.

Also, i know its going to 'cost' me to get a custom box made.. but i really don't have an idea of how much, does anyone have an idea?

Your input is very much appreciated.

I hope you all have something good planned up for the Thanksgiving weekend!

Its only my opinion, but, custom boxes i reckon only look good if its a show car. Im assuming your looking at goin all out on something flash? I have a ported box i purchased from a car parts place (autobarn.com.au) for like.. $80 or so. Id go with something like that.. Either that or buy some mbf and marine carpet and do one up yourself.. but the materials often are more expensive then to buy something that is mass produced anyways. Up to you mate

if you want to get the best sound out of that speaker, you need to make the box to the sub don't just pick one off the shelf at worst buy. Download a program called WIN ISD PRO. enter all the specs from your sub and it will give you all the information you need for box size, port length, port diameter. things of that nature. if your spending a lot of money on audio gear don't cheap on any piece of the puzzle. and as far as construction material i would also have to say mdf board, so much easier to work with than fiberglass. i have seen plexiglass boxes but don't recomend that for suck a small car, would have to be seriously reinforced.

        hope this helps
