  • CD Player Removal

    Hi Guys
I've searched a bit but couldn't find anything

My 87 model 121 has a CD player in the space under the air conditioning controls in the centre console.

I need to get it out/access the back of it to hook up the RCA leads for my sub/amp - How can i do this?

I had a quick look yesterday and couldn't really see how to get the CD player out

    Cheers

Is it in the area below the HVAC controls or is it in the console? It makes a difference.
If its below the HVAC controls then you just take 2 screws out on bottom of trim piece and then it could be held in place in a couple of ways. It could be screwed in like the factory radio was or it could be held in place using the radio mounting bracket. In which case you need the 2 slim pieces of metal to slip in on either side of the unit to pull it out.

If its in the console thats another matter because thats a bit of a custom install and who knows what the installer used to hold it in place.

well, since it's a 121, he's apparently not in the US. Renepogel, would you add your location to your profile? That can help us help you. Since it's non-NA 121, they had the radio receiver/cassette player in the lower console from the factory, I believe. But, I would still agree that the two screws at the bottom of the center stack trim need to be removed, the trim pulled, and the player will most likely be held in by two screws (one on either side), if it's installed like a NA radio.

        ok... have added location

        Its under the HVAC controls.
I took out the 2 screws underneath...
and i'd forgotten about the little bits of metal that i need to slide down the sides to get the head unit out. I'll go see the install guys and get some off them!

        Thanks guys
I knew it would be a simple answer!
