  • Anyone ever heard of this?

My festiva has no wiring harness for the stereo. It doesnt even have a antenna. Where the antenna is suppost to be just has a factory looking block off plate. I started looking for speakers and come to find out there isnt even a spot for speakers. WTF? Is this somekind of factory joke? Who the hell doesnt want a stereo in there car lmfao.

Please tell me that I am not the only one that has incountered this.

You may not be the only one who's seen this, but there are 4 factory locations for speakers....two in the front dash bottom area near each door and then there are two in the rear hatch area to the left and right of the cargo bay. If your car has been beaten up, these parts may be missing. They are covered by plastic grates....I'm sure there are pics somewhere here...I'll look!

I don't have any pics of the cargo speaker locations....the antenna goes in the driver's "A" pillar where the factory block off is....it threads down through the pillar into the dash and through to the stereo spot. Hope this was helpful!

It wasnt common for Festivas to not have radios. But some were bought as fleet vehicles. Whatever you do save the Antenna delete cover and radio delete cubby hole. These are fairly desirable for some reason.

Thanks for the pictures and the heads up about the block off plate. I have never seen anything like this before.

You can finagle 5.25s in the rear with some massaging of the speakers themselves. Otherwise its 4" all the way around. You can also put speakers in the doors. There are cutouts under the door panels. Be careful of the depth though.

Funny, Monsoon, both of my first two Festivas had no radio, antenna or air...of course, I asked for no stereo because the factory units at the time were kinda weak. They were from 1989 and 1991. I had always assumes that all Festivas came wired for stereos, though, because both of mine did.

Mine is a 1992 and has nothing besides 4 locations for speakers. No wiring what so ever. Oh and it has the stereo delete plate in the dash. Weird?

Not too weird...mine had the stereo delete plate, but the factory woring was behind it...and I'm sure they didn't take the stereo out of the car because I was working in the new car prep bay at the time. Maybe before 1992 a decision was made to try and keep costs down by not putting the factory stereo wiring in cars that weren't going to get one. Should be easy enough to wire it, though.

Yeah actually not having the harness will just make it easier to install my own setup. I am going alpine all the way.

The wires should be there. They all should be wired. You just need to search better. They might be tied up somewhere. The rear speaker wires are behind the side panels.

My 1st festiva came without a radio off the lot and all the wires were there.

I did happen to find the rear wires today. They were taped to the inside rear wall next to the rear seat. I am still stumped as to were the other wires are in the dash. They are probably tucked away in there somewhere.
